Here are the updated requirements and procedure for a Japan Tourist Visa for Bangladeshi citizens.

Key Updates:

From 3 November 2024, visa applications for Japan from Bangladesh are handled by VFS Global via a Visa Application Centre (VAC) in Dhaka. The Japanese Embassy no longer directly accepts applications except in special cases.
The standard processing time is about 7 working days after submitting a complete application to VFS. Documents are incomplete or need verification, it can take longer.
The visa fee is free for Bangladeshi nationals. VFS charges a service fee for handling.

Required Documents for Tourist Visa (Sightseeing):

Valid Passport: Passport should be valid
Passport-size Photos: Usually 2 photos, size ~ 3.5 × 4.5 cm (or “2 inch x 2 inch” equivalent)
Visa Application Form: Fill completely and correctly; form available from Embassy gate or downloadable.
Proof of Financial Capability: Bank statements (3 months), savings, employment certificate, or any source showing you can support your stay.
Employment / School Certificate: Eemployed, a work certificate; A student, school ID/letter.
Round-trip Airline Booking Slip: Evidence of return flight.
Tentative Itinerary in Japan: Program of what you plan to do; places you’ll visit etc.
Proof of Accommodation: Hotel bookings or where you’ll stay. (Often included in itinerary)

Application Process:

Here are the steps to apply:

Book an Appointment at the VFS Visa Application Centre in Dhaka through their website.
Submit the application & documents in person at VFS. Make sure you bring originals + copies.
Interview: May be held at the time of submission. Often same day.
Pick up Passport: once visa is processed. Bring receipt or application receipt. someone else picks up, they need authorization.
